Was wondering. If you just pushed out the tubes of soap and let alone and cure for the full 5-6 weeks. Could you cut the bars down to size or do you need to cut earlier in the curing process?

Facts? Where are the facts? What other ingredients do you think it has? What do your labels say? The Red Devil in my town says 100%lye on the label. I need more than here-say. WOW! I’ve been making it for years too! Gee, what a coincidence! Surprisingly enough, I seem to still have all my skin intact… :-/

I get my lye at a local candle/soap supply store. If you live in a fairly large city you should be able to find one.

Lye isn’t really …
Lye isn’t really hard to get. A typical hardware store should have it. The Ace around my house sells a 100% lye and it isn’t red devil brand. It’s called ROOTO, and it is obviously drain cleaner. Make sure the lye is free of any other material. Lye mixed with other substances may or may not create soap, but will have other elements which you don’t want in your soap.

Getting lye is not that hard, you just need to pay the shipping charge for hazardous materials. Brambleberry’s has a website and sells lye for soap making. You can go to several places especially Ebay since lye is used to make bio fuel.
